the Dutch Broadcast Loudness Comittee
In May 2005 the 'VCA', a society of Dutch Film Sound Engineers, organized a Television Broadcast Loudness Symposium in The Netherlands that was visited by engineers and managers of broadcast stations, post production houses, rebroadcasters and producers of commercials, drama and documentaries. After the symposium, it was decided to create the Dutch Broadcasting Loudness Committee. Our mission is to research a means for levelling program material while preserving artistic choices. In a later stage, a smaller working group was established together with Eelco Grimm, Michel Schöpping and Wouter Snel under responsibility of the Utrecht School of The Arts, Faculty Art, Media & Technology. More research was done and the result of that was officially published during the IBC conference session 2008.
